My Little Friends

A couple of little guys, a moth and a bee, that are frequent visitors to Jay’s Cafe’.

Venus, 20190106, about 6 am CST, Houma, LA.

First attempt at Venus. I would call this a success. This is about as clear as I can get with my current setup

I’m practicing for the upcoming Red Wolf Moon on the 20th of January, 2019. Those will be incredibly clearer due to the closeness of the Moon.

Halloweenies :)

I would like to give a bit of information about how the following photos were created.  You can enjoy the photos without understanding any of this.  And, I’m sure there are other ways of making them.

1) Nikon D3300 DSLR, and a variety of lenses.
2) Slik U212 Professional Tripod
3) Dell Optiplex 990
4) Dell PowerEdge D420 Server

Operating Systems:
1) Amiga OS 3.1.4
2) Windows 10
3) Ubuntu 18.04 LTS (MATE’ Desktop)

1) View NX2:  Windows 10 – Nikon Management and manipulation software
2) ImageMagick: Linux Subsystem for Windows (Ubuntu 18.04 CLI) – conversion software make the huge finished products into a usable file.
3) FlashMadelNG: AmigaOS 3.1.4 (AmiKit) – Fractal generation and manipulation
4) ChaosPro: AmigaOS 3.1.4 (AmiKit) – Fractal generation and manipulation
5) The G.I.M.P – (Windows 10 and Ubuntu 18.04 LTS) – Image assembly and manipulation
6) AmiKit:  Amiga 3.1.4 – Desktop Interface providing the “glue” for creating the fractals and converting them from IFF-ILBMs to Portable Network Graphics (PNGs).
7) X2Go: Windows 10 and Ubuntu 18.04 LTS – allows me to run virtual computers on my server.  The server is six times more powerful than my desktop, which is not shabby, and makes the time processes take, tolerable.

Now, onto the photos.

Vultures on Steeple

The primitive is from Mulberry Baptist Church, Houma, Louisiana.  The vultures are real.  They were on the steeple.  This was a God-shot.  I almost wrecked my car pulling into the parking lot to get the shot.  This is the shot that started it all.  When I was taking the photos of the vultures on the steeple, I saw this image in my mind’s eye.  Time to completion – about 4 hours.

Welcome to the Graveyard

Time to completion – 2 hours.

Moon Maligned

Time to completion – 14 hours.  A LOT of processing went into this photo.  I would say that I abandoned this one.  I don’t feel like I’m finished with it.

The cross if from a mausoleum in the cemetery next to Main Branch Library, Houma, La.  I shot the moon with a good friend and a couple of Heinekens back in June 2018.

All the elements in all of the photos were either created or photographed by me.  I retain the copyrights.  You use them with appropriate attribution to “Jazzy_J”.

Thanks!  Happy Halloween!!!

Flying Friends – Oct. 27th, 2018

My wife and I were chilling in our backyard.  A few friends decided to come out and play.  I was able to shoot a few of them.
